Marion Center Speedway opened its 41’st season of racing with a single owner Saturday night at the quarter mile clay oval at the top of the hill between Indiana and Punxsutawney. The total car count for the night was over 100 cars in the five divisions racing for double point for opening night. Some of the night’s highlights include a first time feature winner and the introduction of new division sponsors. W. G. Satterlee and Sons of Rochester Mills have picked up sponsorship of the 2006 Street Stock Division at Marion Center Speedway. The first feature winner for the newly named division was Bill Phillips, Jr. from Blandburg. Phillips learned from finishing second in his heat race, after leading all but the last lap to be cautious of Dave Potter, Jr. who got around Phillips on a restart to take the heat race win. But in the feature, Phillips held off Potter to secure the victory for the first W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock Feature. Potter from Smoke Run came in second and Tim White of Punxsutawney, who had started on the pole finished third. Fourth place went to Eric Lingenfelter from Indiana and Bob Egley from Kittanning was fifth. The rest of the top ten in the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stocks feature were Jim Boyer, Nic Goss, Steve Barnes, Andrew Satterlee and Andy Mock. In the preliminary heats the winners were Jeff Taylor from Corsica and Dave Potter, Jr. Driller’s Bar at Kaye Arena in Indiana is now the sponsor of the Limited Latemodel Division at Marion Center Speedway. The first winner of the Driller’s Bar Limited Latemodels was Rod Phillips of Punxsutawney. Once again running in two divisions, limited latemodel and latemodel, Rod Phillips was successful in leading all but the first lap of the feature which was led by pole sitter, Shane McMeans from Dayton. Phillips dominated the field but still had to worry about who was behind him throughout the race. His challengers included Ray Weaver from Home who moved up from 8’th at the start to be in contention for the win and Cheyenne Reed from Punxsutawney was also in position to take the front if the door was let open. But Phillips was consistant in his leadership of the race and won the first Driller’s Bar Limited Latemodel Feature. At the checkered flags, Phillips was first, Weaver-second, Reed-third, Denny Walker of Punxsutawney-fourth, and Bob Egley from Kittanning was fifth. The top ten included John Oaks, Chris Clark (2005 driver listed for 19 C) Jim Detman, Curtis Lias, and Shane McMeans. The Driller’s Bar heats went to Rod Phillips and Cheyenne Reed. Marion Center Speedway also welcomes W G M Gas and Excavating as the new sponsor for the Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinder Division. Tim Bish from Ringgold was the first victor of the 4 cylinders for the 2006 racing season. Kyle McFarland from Rochester Mills started on the pole after a great run in the heats, but broke down after leading the first three laps of the W G M Gas & Excavating feature leaving the Tim Bish entry in first place. Bish who was also a heat race winner had started in fourth place and quickly moved in behind McFarland. Mark Faught from Cherry Tree followed Bish’s lead into second place and kept that position throughout the feature to the finish. Third place in the W G M Gas & Excavating 4 Cylinders went to Dan Adams from Nanty-Glo. Adams had to work his way up from 10’th place to secure the third spot. Fourth place at the checkers went to Bob Pease from Blairsville and Eric McKendree of Valier was fifth. The rest of the top ten in order were Randy Wright, Larry Depp, Don Carpenter, Jr., Allen Lydic, and Nathan Cessna. The third heat race for the 4 Cylinders was won by Ron Smith from Cowansville. The high car count for the division necessitated a consolation race for the competitors. The winner of the W G M Gas & Excavating Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinders was Jeff Matko from Glen Campbell who finished just out of the top ten in 11’th for the feature. The Lias Tire Latemodels were the next event on the track and it was good to have Lias Tire and Auto Service from Indiana back for another season with Marion Center Speedway. There were lots of familiar faces in the Lias Tire Latemodel races but none of them seemed happier than that of Dave Blazavich from Indiana. As one of the younger drivers in the division, Dave Blazavich finally came into his own by winning his first feature. Blazavich looked impressive in the heats when he came across the finish line first, and even more impressive when he took the lead away from Dave Satterlee of Home on the second lap of the feature. Then trying to get two wins in one night, Rod Phillips took over the front spot to lead laps five through twelve. Then even looking more impressive, Dave Blazavich passed Phillips to regain the lead for good. Blazavich was also challenged by top contenders Mike Blose from Dayton, and Ken Schaltenbrand of Sarver; but none of them were able to get around Blazavich leaving the young driver in first place and with all the glory he deserved for his well raced first feature victory. The Lias Tire Latemodel summary, Blzavich, Blose, Phillips, Schaltenbrand, Satterlee, Rick Strong, Tom Kitchen, Mike Hite, Dan Swartzlander, and Bobby Hoffman (all others in the top ten are previous feature winners). In the Lias Tire heats, the other winner with Blazavich was Rod Phillips. Another young driver to keep your eye on will be Greg Satterlee (Dave’s nephew). Running the latemodel division this season, Greg Satterlee led two of the six laps in the heats and was doing well in the feature until he left the track in the 16’th lap. The final event of the night was the Pepsi Strictly Stock feature. Bob Benedict from Bolivar was the feature winner. Benedict started on the pole after winning one of the heats and led the first and last parts of the feature with John Mazey also from Bolivar leading the middle section. Mazey was in contention for the lead or leading until lap 12 when he was in a caution in turn four. With Mazey now at the back of the pack, Benedict had to deal with Michael Sisitki from Bolivar to stay in the lead. Sisitki had finished second to Benedict in the heats and wanted the win in the feature. But Benedict held on for the victory. Picking up third place in the Pepsi Strictly Stock Feature was Tim Good from Vintondale and Robert James from Mahaffey was fourth. Fifth place went to Joe Zulisky from Derry. Rounding out the top ten were Wil Fong Henry, Steve McKendree, Gary Furman, Jr., Steve Matko (formerly from the 4 cylinder division) and Bill Bartlebaugh. The heats were won by Benedict, Brett Bingaman from Cherry Tree and McKendree of Mahaffey. Looking ahead at a full schedule of events at the top of the hill includes twice a month ATV drag races on Sundays-the next ones coming up are May 7 and 21. The Mother’s Day Special event will be May 13, and May 20 is Armed Forces Day at Marion Center Speedway. The first of the 2006 Kid’s Bike Races will be May 27 and held monthly thereafter with MacDonald’s Night being the same as the championship bike race night in August. The month of May also includes the annual Memorial Day Special – the Lias Tire Latemodel’s Twin 25’s scheduled for Monday, May 29, 2006. Along with our new division and race night sponsors, Driller’s Bar, W G M Gas & Excavating, and W. G. Satterlee & Sons, the Marion Center Speedway welcomes back Season Championship Sponsor, Butler Auto Supply from Indiana. We all hope to see you at the next races at Marion Center Speedway – “The Thrill on the Hill.” by Don Peffer

Andrew Satterlee won his first Street Stock feature Saturday night at Marion Center Speedway in the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock division. Andrew Satterlee from Rochester Mills, son of Late Model driver Dave Satterlee, started on the pole in his second showing as a Street Stock driver, and was in the front half of the field of cars throughout the race. After leading the first lap, the young driver drifted back as far as sixth place before charging back into contention for the lead. Dave Potter Jr. from Smokerun took the lead away from Satterlee and was front-runner for a half dozen laps until Mike Lockard moved in to the lead. Lockard from Twin Rocks looked as though he would lead to the checkered flags when he spun out in turn four of the seventeenth lap of the 20 lap feature. The restart of the race put the top cars in the front and close together for a three lap dash to the finish-Jeff Taylor from Corsica was the leader after Lockard’s misfortune, followed by Jason Fosnaught of Creighton and Andrew Satterlee was the third place car. For two laps the top three cars stayed in that order but the final trip around the track they each wanted the win and it was three wide coming into turn four for the dash to the checkered flags. Satterlee gunned it down the front stretch to edge past his competitors and by no more than half a car length at best; the former 6 cylinder driver had his first victory in a Street Stock feature. Jason Fosnaught also made it past Taylor for second place leaving Jeff Taylor in third. Randy Martz from Brookville filled in the fourth spot and Tommy Dembowski from Export was fifth. Dave Potter Jr. finished sixth, Jim Fosnaught from Bairdford was seventh and John McCann of Ford City took eighth. Ninth place went to Denny Keener from Arcadia, and last week’s winner, Bill Phillips, Jr. from Blandburg was tenth. The rest of the field finished in the following order: Tim White from Punxsutawney, Ray Reynolds from Fallen Timber, Steve Barnes from Punxsutawney, Mike Lockard, Jim Boyer from Indiana and Jeremy Detwiler from Penn Run. The preliminary heats were won by Jeff Taylor and Tommy Dembowski. In other racing action Saturday night at the quarter-mile clay oval, Michael Sisitki from Bolivar won the Pepsi Strictly Stock feature. Sisitki finished second last week and this time he was able to get into the lead early enough in the fifteen lap feature to keep out of trouble in the twenty-two-car field. At the halfway point of the race, Sisitki passed Charlie Boring also from Bolivar, to take the lead and never relinquished the top spot the rest of the feature to secure the win. Robert James from Mahaffey took second place away from Boring in the second half of the race, and Tim Good from Vintondale moved into third at the end of the feature leaving Boring in fourth. Fifth place went to Joe Zulisky of from Derry. Rounding out the top ten were Brett Bingaman, Steve Matko, Dave Smith, Steve McKendree, and Mike Boring. Dave Smith from Glen Campbell and Bob Benedict from Acme were the heat winners. Rodney Phillips from Punxsutawney won back-to-back features in the Driller’s Bar Limited Latemodels. As he did last week, Phillips was running strong Saturday night at Marion Center Speedway. Paul Hrubochak from Cherry Tree was Phillips’s competition for the night and was the leader at one point of the race, but the second half of the feature, it was all Phillips in front. Hrubochak took second, Bobby Watt from Latrobe was third, Ray Weaver from Home –fourth, and fifth went to Jim Whiteford from Northern Cambria. Chris Clark from Curwensville finished in sixth place ahead of Jeff Weakland from Hastings and Cheyenne Reed from Punxsutawney; John Oaks also from Punxsutawney and Brian Good from Smicksburg round out the top ten. Shane McMeans from Dayton was the winner of one heat race and Chris Clark won the other heat. Back-to-back feature wins also goes to Tim Bish from Ringgold. Bish was the winner for the second time in as many races this season in the W G M Gas & Excavating Front Wheel Drive 6 Cylinders. Bish started in tenth place and took some time to work his way to the front position. But at the duel checkered flags ending the race, Bish was the winner followed by Alan Seliga of Punxsutawney, Dan Adams from Nanty-Glo, Randy Wright from Glen Campbell and Kris Fleming from Dayton. Bob Pease from Blairsville took sixth place and then came Matt Fulmer, Rodney Simpson, Nathan Cessna, and Eric McKendree. In the heat races the winners were Dan Adams and Tim Bish. The Lias Tire Latemodel’s feature was won by Sammy Stile from Charleroi. Stile was absent from the division last Saturday, but this week the familiar 2S was buzzing around the track in style-Sammy Stile. Starting tenth in the field, Stile worked his way through the pack to the lead before the crossed flags came out. Passing Rodney Phillips, Rick Strong, Schaltenbrand, and others before finally passing the pole sitter, Rick Davis from Home for the win. Rick Strong from Chambersville ran in the front of the pack throughout the feature and settled into second place at the checkers, followed by Rodney Phillips from Punxsutawney and Ken Schaltenbrand from Sarver. Davis from Home drifted back from first to fifth. Last week’s feature winner, Dave Blazavich from Indiana finished sixth and Jerry Redden of Mahaffey took seventh. Rounding out the top ten were Scott Stein, Herman Bertolini., and Cody Shultz. Dave Blazavich and Sammy Stile won the two heat races. Marion Center Speedway has a full schedule of events coming up including twice a month ATV drag races on Sundays-the next one coming up is May 21; and the Mother’s Day Special event will be May 13, and May 20 is Armed Forces Day at Marion Center Speedway. Marion Center Speedway raced Saturday
night when other area racetracks were canceling due to the impending rainy
weather. But the weather held out for the over 100 cars that came through
the pits in the five divisions racing on the quarter-mile clay oval. Here’s
the results of the evening’s events:
The Lias Tire Latemodels were the
first division to race Saturday night. With a full field of cars in the
line-up, it could have been anybody’s race. But after leaving pole sitter,
Tom Kitchen from Indiana lead the first three laps, Dave Satterlee from Home
took command of the race. Noticeably absent from the track last week,
Satterlee was set up right for track conditions this week. Satterlee was
challenged heavily by David Scott from Garland throughout the feature with
Scott having the advantage in the turns, and Satterlee powering down the
straight-aways. But the finish line is on the front straight stretch, and
Dave Satterlee had the advantage there and got the win. David Scott picked
up second place followed by Rodney Phillips from Punxsutawney in third, Ken
Schaltenbrand from Sarver in fourth, and Keith Witherite from Curwensville in
fifth. The rest of the top ten in order were Tony Burke of Sarver, Tom
Kitchen, Dane Laraway from Harrison City, Dave Blazavich from Marion Center
and Mike Ziner from Indiana. In the preliminary heats, it was a different
Satterlee in the winner’s circle-Greg Satterlee (Dave’s nephew) from Rochester
Mills was a winner. The other two heats were won by Rick Strong from
Chambersville, and David Scott.
The next feature on the track was in the Pepsi Strictly Stock division. Tim Good from Vintondale led the most laps in the feature, but not the first ones or the last one. Brett Bingaman from Cherry Tree started on the pole and stayed in front for a couple of laps then Steve Matko came across the line first once, before Good took the front position. Tim Good then led the rest of the race until the last lap when Michael Sisitki from Bolivar made it past the leader on the backstretch and held the front to the checkered flags. Tim Good stayed in second place on the final lap and Brett Bingaman took third with Steve Matko from Cherry Tree in fourth. Steve McKendree from Mahaffey took fifth place and then came Charlie Boring from Bolivar and Bob Benedict, John Mazey, Joe Zulisky, and Tony Hugil to form the top ten. Steve McKendree was also a heat race winner along with Robert James from Mahaffey and Gary Furman, Jr. from New Alexandria. Then the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stocks took the track for their feature. This time the dominating force on the track was the feature winner, Jeff Taylor from Corsica. Taylor started 11’Th in a field of 16 cars and took half-dozen laps to get to the lead. But once there, Jeff Taylor was immovable from that position. Bill Phillips, Jr. from Blandburg chased Taylor around the track lap after lap trying to find a way to beat his competitor, but it was to no avail as Phillips came across the finish line second but was later stripped of that position due to using the wrong intake manifold allowed by the track as revealed by an unannounced post race inspection. Phillips was DQ’ed for the night. That turn of events moved up the rest of the finish to give Tim White from Punxsutawney second place, Dave Potter, Jr. from Smokerun-third, John Poling III took fourth, and Steve Barnes from Punxsutawney fifth. The rest of the top ten included Corey Wilson from Hazen, Matt Hugil of Mahaffey, Eric Lingenfelter from Creekside, Jeremy Detwiler from Penn Run and Ray Reynolds from Fallentimber. Jeff Taylor and Eric Lingenfelter won the heat races. After finishing second last week in the Driller’s Bar Limited Latemodels, Paul Hrubochak from Cherry Tree was the feature winner. Hrubochak took the lead away from Chris Johnston from Marion Center after Johnston led the first five laps from the pole start. Hrubochak then took control of the field that went throughout the event with very few cautions. Hrubochak led the Driller’s Bar brigade through lapped traffic to try and lose contenders such as Jeff Weakland from Hastings and last week’s winner, Rod Phillips from Punxsutawney. But the checkered flags flew for Hrubochak with Weakland in second and Phillips in third. Chris Johnston ended up in fourth and Johnny Kuzemchak from Fallentimber took fifth. The rest of the field finished with Tom Shaffer from Punxsy next and then Ray Weaver from Home, Jim Whiteford from North Cambria, Cheyenne Reed and John Oaks both from Punxsutawney. The heats went to Ray Weaver and Tom Shaffer. The W G M Gas and Excavating Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders had quite a night. The division had about thirty cars competing for a 25-car feature position and the competition got tough as night went on. At the end of the W G M Gas & Excavating FWD 4 Cylinder’s feature, Bob Pease from Blairsville was the victor. Pease held onto the top spot after taking the lead from Randy Wright from Glen Campbell who led the first two laps then dropped back in the field as Pease took over followed by Josh Westlake from Kittanning, Jessie Bish from Corsica and Eric McKendree from Valier made their way around Wright leaving Randy Wright in fifth place. Merle Bolette from Cherry Tree took sixth place followed by Tim Laughard from Vitondale, Cliff Voss II from Big Run, Tim Bish of Ringgold and Nathan Cessna from Indiana. In the preliminary races, the winners were Cliff Voss II, Tim Bish, and Tim Laughard in the heats and Larry Depp from Punxsutawney won the consolation race to go to the feature. Marion Center Speedway has a full schedule of events coming up: May 20 is Armed Forces Day at Marion Center Speedway and the next ATV Drag Race is coming up May 21. The first of the 2006 Kid’s Bike Races will be held May 27 and held monthly thereafter with MacDonald’s Night being the same as the championship bike race night in August. The month of May also includes the annual Memorial Day Special – the Lias Tire Latemodel’s Twin 25’s scheduled for Monday, May 29, 2006. Along with our new division and race night sponsors, Driller’s Bar, W G M Gas & Excavating, and W. G. Satterlee & Sons, the Marion Center Speedway welcomes back Season Championship Sponsor, Butler Auto Supply from Indiana and division sponsors Lias Tire and Auto Service from Indiana and Pepsi. We all hope to see you at the next races at Marion Center Speedway – “The Thrill on the Hill.”

Marion Center Speedway was where the action was Saturday night. A new record of 146 racecars showed up to run in the five divisions on the quarter-mile clay oval as the racetrack honored the nation’s military with Armed Forces Night. Representatives from the U. S. Army were on hand throughout the night and presented the colors aboard an Army Humvee. Here’s the results of the races:
The W G M Gas & Excavating Front Wheel
Drive Four Cylinders had the most cars of the night with about 40 signing in at
the gate and vying for a chance at the feature. To give everyone a better
chance at the feature win, the field of cars was split into two features for the
night. In the first feature Tim Bish from Ringgold started on the pole and
nearly led every lap for the victory. His run was marred by a few laps that
Alan Seliga of Punxsutawney took control of the race near the middle of the
feature. Several cautions in the event kept the pack of cars close together
and the red lights came on when Jeff Matko from Glen Campbell rolled his car
over in turn one. Matko was not injured in the crash that sent the 01 tumbling
through the turn. At the checkered flags finish, Tim Bish was the winner,
Seliga took second, and Bob Pease from Blairsville was third. Following them
we had Cliff Voss II from Big Run, Mark Faught from Cherry Tree, Larry Depp of
Punxsutawney, Adam Brink from Rossiter, Jerry Walls of Syskesville, Nathan Good
from Vintondale and Mark Maglet from Nanty-Glo. The next division onto the track was the Lias Tire Latemodels. For his first time at the track, Gary Lyle from Hyde Park did very well. After finishing third in his heat, Lyle went to the feature and starting from fifth, worked his way into the lead before the halfway point of the race. Jerry Redden from Mahaffey was in the pole position for the race and led the first seven laps before Lyle took over and never relinquished the lead. Sammy Stile from Charleroi was also in contention for the top spot and gave Lyle a run for the money, but Lyle never faltered in the remaining laps to take the victory and leave Stile in second place and Rodney Phillips from Punxsutawney who was also running strong enough to have been a leader at any time, in third at the end. Fourth place went to Alex Ferree and fifth went to Ken Schaltenbrand from Sarver. Sixth through tenth places were filled by Dutch Davies from Warren, Jerry Redden, Dave Satterlee, Chuck Sarver from West Sunbury and Dane Laraway from Harrison City. The Lias Tire Latemodel heat races were won by Dutch Davies, Sammy Stile and David Scott from Garland. Marion Center Speedway’s next event was the Pepsi Strictly Stock feature. A rash of flat tires seemed to appear in the feature that even took out a leader, Bob Benedict from Acme. Benedict had taken over the lead from Steve Matko from Cherry Tree and looked like he was going to the checkered flags with the lead when the flat tire syndrome struck his car and forced him to leave the track. It was late enough in the race that Benedict had no time to recover from the time lost changing the tire in the pits. Benedict’s misfortune was Michael Sisitki’s gain as he took over the lead with Benedict leaving the race. Sisitki had to lead the last three laps to take the victory home to Bolivar with him. Also moving up at the end of the feature were Steve McKendree from Mahaffey in second place, Tim Good from Vintondale in third, Jason Brinny from Morningside in fourth and Gary Furman, Jr. of New Alexandria in fifth. The rest of the top ten in order were: Brian Rhul from Brockway, Bill Bartlebaugh from Punxsutawney, John Eckenrod from Portage, Brett Bingaman from Cherry Tree and Sam McAdams from Blacklick. In the heats it was Bob Benedict, Tim Good and Robert James from Mahaffey taking the checkered flag. The car count for the Pepsi Strictly Stocks mandated a consolation race for the division that was won by Charlie Boring from Bolivar.
The first half-dozen laps in the W. G.
Satterlee & Sons Street Stock feature was led by Mike Laughard from Twinrock,
but Laughard lost his lead when Eric Lingenfelter of Creekside got around
Laughard before the crossed flags came out. Lingenfelter had started tenth and
took the lead for lap nine and held the top spot for four laps before Rusty
Martz came in to the lead. Martz and Lingenfelter battled for front of the
field with Lingenfelter taking back the lead for a lap near the end. But at
the checkered flags finish, Rusty Martz from Brookville was the winner with Eric
Lingenfelter finishing second and Scott Alvetro from Reynoldsville close behind
in third. Fourth place went to Laughard and fifth was filled by Jeff Taylor of
Corsica. Jason Fosnaught from Creighton took sixth, Eric Baun from Rossiter
was seventh, Dave Potter, Jr. from Smokerun-eighth, Tim White from Punxsutawney
was ninth and John Poling III of Punxsutawney was tenth. The three heat races
in the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock division were won by Jason Fosnaught,
Rusty Martz and Andrew Satterlee from Rochester Mills. Marion Center Speedway has a full schedule of events coming up: The next ATV Drag Race is coming up June 4. The first of the 2006 Kid’s Bike Races will be held next Saturday May 27 and held monthly thereafter with MacDonald’s Night being the same as the championship bike race night in August. Next Weekend also includes the annual Memorial Day Special – the Lias Tire Latemodel’s Twin 25’s scheduled for Monday, May 29, 2006 at the regular starting time of 7:30 PM. Rodney Phillips of Punxsutawney was the big winner Saturday night at Marion Center Speedway for the first half of the Memorial Day Weekend of Racing. Rod Phillips won every race he entered in on the quarter-mile clay oval in two divisions. After winning heats in the Driller’s Bar Limited Latemodels and the Lias Tire Latemodels, Phillips repeated the performance for the feature. Not only was Rod a winner Saturday night, but his daughters were also winners in their respective Kid’s Bike races held during intermission. Here’s the recap: In the Driller’s Bar Limited Latemodel Feature, Cheyenne Reed of Punxsutawney started on the pole with Ray Weaver From Home behind him and Rod Phillips beside Weaver. Mike McKendree started in the outside pole and took the lead fort he first two laps. Then Reed passed McKendree from Brookville to take over the front position. But a few laps after that, Rod Phillips was in control of the race. Leading the remaining 14 laps to the checkered flags, Rod Phillips was unstoppable. Cheyenne Reed picked up second place and Ray Weaver took third. Jeff Weakland of Hastings moved into fourth place and John Weaver from Commodore was fifth. Sixth through tenth places went to Larry Hollenbaugh (Punxsutawney), Paul Hrubochak (Cherry Tree), Bobby Watt (Latrobe), John Oaks (Punxsutawney), and Clayton Copeman (Irwin). The heat races went to Ray Weaver and Rod Phillips. Rod Phillips then switched cars but kept his winning streak alive in the Lias Tire Latemodels’ Feature. In the second event of the night, Mike Blose from Dayton started on the pole and was set to take the race from beginning to end. But Rod Phillips who started right behind Blose, stayed right behind Blose biding his time and waiting for opportunity to knock on Blose’s door; and when the door opened, Phillips went by Blose to lead the final five laps of the twenty-lap Lias Tire feature. Phillips took David Scott from Garland through the door with him and Scott picked up second place leaving the former leader, Blose in third. Fourth place went to Rick Davis from Home; Sammy Stile from Charleroi was fifth, Jerry Redden from Mahaffey took sixth, Chuck Sarver from West Sunbury was seventh, Dave Blazavich of Marion Center in eighth, Dane Laraway of Harrison City ninth, and Scott Stein from Cherry Tree took tenth. The heats races went to Rod Phillips and Rick Davis and Mike Blose. In the Pepsi Strictly Stock Division a former 4 Cylinder driver that moved up a class this year became the feature winner; Steve Matko who pleased the crowd in the formerly known “Little General Lee” (after the famed Duke’s of Hazard car) drove his newest version of the General Lee to victory in the Pepsi Strictly Stock feature. Matko even serenaded the crowd from victory lane with the Dixie horn music famed by the TV show. On the racetrack, it was the Steve Matko show from beginning to end of the feature. Starting on the pole, Matko led every lap to the checkered flags. Following in second place was Charlie Boring from Bolivar; Steve McKendree from Mahaffey took third, Tim Good from Vintondale was fourth and fifth went to John Mazey from Bolivar. Rounding out the top ten in order were Marshall Detwiler from Roaring Spring, Mike Boring from Bolivar, Mike Silk from Bolivar, Gary Furman, Jr. from New Alexandria and Brett Bingaman from Cherry Tree. A Consolation race was held and Michael Sisitki from Bolivar was declared the winner there. In the preliminary heats the winners were Charlie Boring, Bob Benedict from Acme and Steve Matko. The W.G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stocks were on the track next. This time it was Dave Potter, Jr. from Smokerun who was the leader throughout the race.
