Marion Center Speedway held its Butler Auto Supply Season Championships for all five divisions Saturday night and it was double point night for the final races of the season.

The W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stocks took the track first for the final series of races for the Championship.  Jim Boyer from Indiana was on the pole and led every lap to past the halfway point of the twenty-lap feature.  Tim White from Punxsutawney had been working his way to the front from starting seventh and Scott Stein who is driving for the injured Tim Bish started right behind him in ninth place.  By the time the five laps to go sign was displayed, Stein had maneuvered the Bish car into the lead with White right with him.  Stein took the feature win giving Tim Bish the 2009 Points Championship and Season Championship.  Tim White took second place and Jim Boyer was third.  Next across the finish line were Mike Laughard of Twin Rocks, Tim Adamson from Punxsutawney, Andy Klingensmith , Nick Goss, Randy Reitz, Fred Casagni and Corey Neal.  Nick Goss and Kevin Haas from Sarver won the W. G. Satterlee & Sons heat races.

John Britsky secured his Season Championship of the Lias Tire Late Models by leading every lap of the feature.  Britsky from Indiana brought the cars out on the track in the pole position and never let anyone pass him for the victory.  Dave Blazavich from Marion Center started and ended second, Rick Davis from Home finished third after starting sixth.  Fourth place at the checkers went to Clate Copeman from Greensburg and Matt Gaston from Rochester Mills was fifth.  Next were Dane Laraway, Jerry Redden, Dwayne Taneyhill, Billy Dickson and John Poling III.  Rod Phillips and Matt Gaston won the Lias Tire Late Model heat races.

The Lias Tire Late Model Points Champion is Sammy Stile from Charleroi who had a rough night Saturday at the track and finished the feature in fourteenth place.

Pikel’s Universal Auto Repair Strictly Stocks were the next division to run for the Butler Auto Supply Season Championship.  The excitement started off with Denny Smith from Glen Campbell leading the first part of the race with Bryant Small from Cherry Tree hot on his tail until the halfway point of the fifteen-lap feature.  Then Small takes the lead from Smith with Ray Hickok, Jr. from Commodore in second.  With five laps to go, Small spun out and lost the lead to Hickok.  Hickok only enjoyed the front position for one lap and he spun out leaving the lead in Steve Matko’s hands.  Steve Matko won the Season Championship, Denny Smith took second, Greg Buterbaugh of Clymer was third, Brett Bingaman from Cherry Tree-fourth and Bobby Noel from Mundys Corner got fifth.  Sixth through tenth places in the Butler Auto Supply Season Championship went to Nate Smith, Gary Furman, Jr., Justin Queen, Tim Schreckengost, and Robin Welsh.  Nate Smith and Bryant Small won the Pikel’s Universal Auto Repair Strictly Stock heat races.  Brett Bingaman became the 2009 Points Champ for the division.

Rod Phillips took the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Limited Late Model Season Championship and Points Championship with his feature win on Butler Auto Supply night.  Phillips started fifth and was in contention for the lead, running third throughout much of the twenty-lap feature.  Chris Clark from Curwensville was in second place and Joey Valenti from Clymer was the leader from the pole position start. The front three cars stayed close and it looked like it was going to be a rare finish without Phillips from Punxsutawney in first place.  Joey Valenti was the leader then Clark passed him for the lead then Phillips comes charging around both of the tem to steal away the victory, championship and all the glory.  Valenti took second place and Clark was third.  Scott Alvetro from Reynoldsville was fourth and Cheyenne Reed of Punxsutawney finished fifth.  Sixth through tenth in the feature were Jeff Weakland, Dave Buchanan, Bobby Watt, Tom Shaffer and Mike Zemrose.  The winners of the Hoosier Limited Late Model heat races were Scott Stein and Bobby Watt.

The final feature of the night was the Today’s Hot Country Q-102 Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinder Rice Burners.  Larry Depp, Jr. from Punxsutawney wrapped up the season in style.  Depp came out in the pole position and never let anyone else in the lead to secure his victory and the Butler Auto Supply Season Championship and the 2009 Points Championship.  Depp kept Chris Hickok behind him all the way leaving Hickok from Commodore in second place at the checkers.  Craig Decker from Cherry Tree finished third and Bob Pease from Blairsville was fourth.  Joe Petyak from Gallitzin took fifth.  Rounding out the top ten in order were Tina Weaver, Tom Pavelko, Dave Buterbaugh, Shane Bronson and Jeremy Lute.  Chris Hickok and Larry Depp, Jr. won the Q-102, 4 Cylinder heat races.

Saturday’s races ended the 2009 season at Marion Center Speedway and the Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department want to thank all those that participated in their 50/50 ticket sales this past season and helped build up their Building and Equipment funds.

The Force Inc. Super Late Model Championship Challenge results will be announced after the Dog Hollow Speedway concludes its points season, possibly this Friday September 11.  Keep checking websites for the results-if Sammy Stile wins Dog Hollow, he’ll be the Force Challenge winner as well since he is the Marion Center Points Champ for the Lias Tire Late Models.
